Uk mini tour - Life as a makeup artist...

At last, I'm feeling so much better and have finally shaken off this horrible cold. Luckily last week was spent having meetings with production companies about up coming shoots.. Not sure that I would have been able to do makeup while I was coughing everywhere... Not hygienic for models and actors... Not fair to spread germs, breathing in strangers faces is not on..happily I had plenty to do with prepping for this Thomas Cook commercial.

Here I am today, overlooking the River Thames, filming in the Thomas Cook online store.. The brief is to glam up the staff, adding some nice colours in an office usually filled with black clothes... Why, oh why do we so love to wear black in the UK?? Makeup will be simple, ladies looking glossy and groomed.. Will put the guys in some nice ties, maybe some fitted, coloured shirt.. Grey might be nice???

The crew all seem very nice, though I've only met the producer once before.. Guess by wed night, when we have all traveled to Manchester and Peterborough together, I'm sure we will be best friends!!! Or avoiding one and other in the future!! Just heard that some crew are flying onto Tenerife for the last 2 days this week.. Shame all I'm providing is the costume for this part of the shoot..

Can you imagine all the work that goes into a 90 second commercial???

Up coming shoots - Life as a make up artist

Well, it maybe raining and windy today, but I'm prepping for an exciting weekend of creativity.. Tomorrow, I am shooting a new musical sensation, with the fabulous photographer TONY BRIGGS. Tony has the Midas touch..

We photographed KATE MOSS, ALI G, JIMMY CARR and most recently FRANKIE BOYLE and JACK WHITEHEAD... So it's going to be a fun filled day, getting creative with STYLE and lots of lovely MAKEUP for our popstrel..

This is followed by shooting a film for a super styled recruitment company over the weekend. This will have to look very stylish and understated chic.. Bring on the BY TERRY foundation and sleek hairstyles..
You see that the life of a MAKEUP ARTIST is not your regular 9-5. And long days and weekend shoots are often par for the course.

However it's more than worth it to do the job you love..

Cold on set - Life as a make up artist...

It's been freezing the last couple of days and what with the weather and turning up the heating, everyones skin is looking so dull and dry...

Of course, the best thing is to up the hydration and drink litres of water, but that seems much more of a difficult task in the winter. A good cream/moisturiser is also needed to protect the skin. Then it's time to bring the big guns out... The foundation..my favourite foundation of all time, the one that never fails to get people commenting on how great skin looks, the one that somehow can knock years off you, with it's lightness and light reflecting properties is VIP Expert, By Terry. It glides on, with it's own built in brush and with just a tiny amount, suddenly you have this beautiful, glowing complexion. It's not cheap, at £39 and the only place I've found to buy it in the UK is Space.NK, though I'm sure it must be on sale in Selfridges...? That's why I love going to Sephora in France. A huge and beautiful makeup emporium. Such a shame Sephora UK is no longer... Vive By Terry, such a great makeup brand..
